Dr Steven Vaughan is Managing Director of Queen Street Partners and leads consulting projects, in association with specially selected teams of associates, as required. Steven has a long background in assessing business models and is known for his work on the growth in boutique managers, having advised on boutiques for the past fifteen years for Dr Steven Vaughan & Associates, the consulting firm he established in 1998.
Steven has advised asset owners (large superannuation funds), investment managers (including global investment managers); financial institutions (Australian and Asian banks) and founded a multi manager funds management business. Steven has a very strong investment research background covering most asset classes; he continues to conduct primary investment research on Australian and international investment strategies across listed and unlisted investments, including equities, debt, property, alternative investments, currency and derivatives. He has conducted onsite manager evaluations in US, UK, Europe, Japan, China, South Asia and Australia. Steven’s core strength is understanding of what it takes to establish and sustain long term investing, in an asset owner or asset manager.
Dr. Vaughan's advisory experience extends from formulating investment beliefs to structuring portfolios; understanding risk, tax and cost efficiency; quantitative analysis, governance and managing agency relationships. He has conducted strategic asset allocation (and liability) studies and advised on active asset allocation, TAA and currency management, where he has a PhD. He has evaluated ESG investment strategies.Steven is sought for independent investment advice. He is strongly analytical, understands governance, fiduciary obligations and committee functionality.
